Confidences


Kate, unaccustomed to defeat and ignorant of Sprague's reasons for ending the courtship, was plunged into dejection.

Sensing that something was wrong, Kate's father told her that if anything disappointed him, it was her failure to disclose her deepest personal concerns to confide in him as he confided in her.
